Cell Drawings Assigned Today

Posted by iateacher on September 25, 2008

Attention parents and guardians:

All of my science classes DID receive the assignment to draw a plant and an animal cell today.  The drawings must be colored and labeled.  The following items MUST be included in the drawings:

  • cell membrane
  • cell wall
  • chloroplasts
  • vacuole
  • nucleus
  • chromosomes
Please note that this assignment is not due until Tuesday, September 30 because with Langwood going on that is the next time I will see ALL of my students.  Therefore I expect EVERYONE to have it done on time.  Students were told that if they did not have it done they would receive a teacher detention!
One good source of help they can use is their Sciencesaurus book, topics 77 and 78.  They could also use the internet.  When you type in “Plant cell” or “animal cell” into one of the many search engines out there you will find TONS of cell pictures

Graphing Worksheet Assigned Today

Posted by iateacher on September 15, 2008

Parents and Guardians:

I assigned a simple graphing worksheet today.  The first page has eight questions over the graphs drawn at the top.  One is a bar graph, the other is a line graph.  Then, on the back, students will be creating their own bar and line graphs using the given data.  There is a piece of graph paper attached so they can draw their graphs.

This is due tomorrow.

I apologize for the problems you may have experienced trying to access the grade reporting page this evening.  Apparently, there is an issue with my grade book software on my home computer, which is a Mac.  I will post new grades at school tomorrow morning.  The grade page should be fully functional by 8:10 and I will post an update here and on my web page so you will know if it is working. I will also be contacting the company that makes my grade book software to alert them to the problems!!  I do apologize for any inconvenience.

NO Assignment Today

Posted by iateacher on September 9, 2008

Attention Parents and Guardians:

The Chapter 2, Section 1 worksheet was NOT given out today for two reasons

  1. I didn’t copy it!!
  2. I ran out of time

This assignment should be given out tomorrow for sure!  Check back here for updates, however!

Chapter 1, Section 4 Worksheet

Posted by iateacher on September 2, 2008

I realize this post is late, it’s been a busy afternoon.  Anyway, students DID receive the chapter 1, section 4 worksheet today.  This is due tomorrow.  If your child is NOT bringing home notes to help with these assignment, ask they why not!  I have been using power point presentations in my class and giving them all the information they need to do the assignments!  This makes the worksheets pretty easy in my humble opinion.  I have noticed, however, that some students do not take any notes.  Encourage your student to do so, as note taking is a skill they can use the rest of their life!!
