STUDENT DATA SHEETS

Posted by iateacher on August 31, 2006

Hello to all!

Today my students have an assignment to complete their “Student Data Sheet”  (only first period DID NOT get these today)  I just wanted to mention a few things on those to make sure everything is clear.

1.  I would prefer that the students write the names of the parents/guardians that they LIVE with.  (i.e. If biological dad has moved out of state I would prefer they not be listed so that if I call the home I don’t ask for the wrong person)

2.  Work Numbers — I ask for work numbers, but I do not use these as a general rule unless I cannot get someone any other way.  If you DO NOT want me to contact you at work please feel free to note this on the form.

3.  Siblings — students were told they could list step and/or half siblings if they want.  They don’t have to do so, especially if they do not live with them.

I hope that helps make this clear, if you have other questions please feel free to e-mail me at eayering AT machlink.com (replace the word AT with the @ symbol)

 Thanks

FIRST DAY THOUGHTS

Posted by iateacher on August 30, 2006

Well, the first day is off to a great start.  The students all seem to be eager and excited to be here.  I am looking foward to a great year.  There is no homework per say for any of my classes.  However, I am asking that they secure a parent/guardian signature on a letter.  The letter is attached to my class information sheet.  I am asking that you read through that information and review it with your child.  Then, sign the letter and have your child return the bottom portion to me.

An interesting note — my 2nd period social studies class received the wrong sheet.  It says science instead of social studies.  This isn’t a HUGE deal since the rules, consequences, etc. are the same for both classes.  However, if you really want to do so you can access the correct version by clicking here

ORIENTATION NIGHT A SUCESS

Posted by iateacher on August 28, 2006

I would like to thank all the parents/guardians and students who stopped by to meet me or say hi this evening. I am really looking forward to a GREAT school year and I hope all of you are as well.

Parents, I want to let you know that you should feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments, concerns, etc. You can e-mail me from my website, call me at school (I’m available before school, during my planning period which is from 12:20-12:50 daily – OK, Mondays it’s different due to the hour early dismissal – Mondays it would be 11:40-12:10 or after school). You can also stop by the school to see me.

Finally tonight, I just want to let you know that I am here at West because I LOVE teaching and working with children. If there is ANYTHING I can do to help make your child’s transition to middle school smooth, I will be glad to!!

How I Will be Using this Blog

Posted by iateacher on August 13, 2006

Just so everyone kind of knows what is going on. My plans for this blog are to help keep everyone updated. I have a weekly assignment page, ( here) but as many of you know, things do change. So, the first way I will be using this is to alert you to changes on that page. For example, if we don’t get as far as I think we will on a given day and I DO NOT give the assignment listed I will post an update.

In addition, another use for the blog will be to alert you to upcoming quizzes and or tests and what the students need to study for that particular quiz or test.

Finally, I will be letting you know about school events that will be coming up, for example, our annual trip to Langwood.

If I think of other ways to use the blog, I’ll do that to!!

Let me know if you are enjoying it and what else you would like to see!
