Hello,
I want to take a minute to mention our next unit. When winter break is over and we return to school on Monday, January 5, 2009, we will be taking about two weeks to do a unit on mealworms. The real “point” of this unit is to learn the scientific process and how to set up an experiment, collect data, and write a report over what was discovered. This will help students who wish to take part in the science fair. There will be some materials that will need to be provided by students and I will post further information here as we get there.
Thanks
Mr. Yerington

Hello Parents, Guardians and Students:
Well, now that we’ve started our winter break a day early and I didn’t get a chance to say this in school today I’ll say it here on the blog!
I want to wish all of you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY 2009!! I hope you take time to enjoy the season and remember the REAL reason why we celebrate!
My best to all of you
Mr. Yerington

Hi everyone
Due to the two hour early dismissal there was NO assignment today. We will follow today’s lesson plans the next time there is a full school day and the worksheet will be given then. Check for the update here….
Thank you, and drive safely today if you have to go out!

Hello to all,
I wanted to get this posted now, although there may be a few minor changes after I meet with my counterparts from Central this afternoon. I will add any changes in a new color or bold type or something of the sort. Anway, depending on the weather and the number of snow days, I plan to give the test over Mixtures and Solutions next Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Here is a list of points to study:
VOCABULARY
Students should know the meanings of the following vocabulary words:
- mixture
- solution
- solvent
- diatomaceous earth
- NaCl
- evaporate
- crystals
- properties
- compound
- solubility
- concentration
- precipitate
- solute
CONCEPTS
Students need to know:
- the three ways we separated mixtures in class
- what happens to a liquid when it evaporates
- how to determine if a given chemical forms a solution
- how to tell if a solution is saturated
- some ways salt is used today
- the two ways salt is obtained
- how to determine the total weight of a solution given
Also, there is an online test that students can take on my web site. I hope that helps everyone get a head start on studying. The test is worth about 51 points at this time. If we change anything that may add or subtract points, but I will update that as well! Also, students should be making sure there notebooks are up to date. The table of contents is right here.
Thanks
